  • Assemblywoman Simotas: School Funding Updates (3-5 min)
    • She was able to have $500k allocated to upgrading the stage and auditorium!
    • Upgrades will be structural and technological.
    • She also announced the G&T placement issue has been resolved and PS 85 children will receive the same benefit of G&T children at other schools.
  • Council Member Costa Constantinides: G&T Updates (3-5 min)
    • Funding has been secured for our state-of-the-art early education building to replace the TCUs next year! This building will be low carbon emissions and will be an example for the community in terms of building standards.
    • As in past years, $50k has been secured for technology upgrades in the school. This funding will be available in January.
    • He spoke in a bit more detail about the G&T issue. It stems from a clerical error on the original form for G&T children at PS 85. He took it all the way to the mayor’s office and has been assured this will no longer be an issue in the future.
  • SLT elections: The three candidates were introduced and the election took place by ballot.
    • Alia Ganapovski: not present; a prepared statement was read by Rebekah, PA Co-Secretary
    • Shawnta Mays: present; she gave a brief statement about herself and what she would advocate for
    • America Flores: not present; a prepared statement was read by Rebekah, PA Co-Secretary
    • Votes were collected and counted by Carmen Guerra-Yonks /
    • America Flores won the position and was announced as the winner
  • President’s Report
    • Recap Spooktacular earnings and feedback
      • We made $2812.18 from the spooktacular which was able to fund nearly all of our Rioult Dance program for 4th graders!
    • Yankee Candle Fundraiser update: currently at $1200 profit to the PA!
    • Movie Night: December 6th: PJ and plushie night!
    • We have some ideas for events in the Spring, but would love the input of the parent community! Potential suggestions are:
      • Spring Dance
      • Novel Night (dress as a character from your favorite novel)
      • STEM Night
